Begin your archery journey with a dedicated beginners session.
Take your first steps into the world of archery.
Embark on archery with a welcoming beginners’ session. Tailored to those who are trying archery for the first time, or have tried a single session elsewhere and wish to know more about the sport, these sessions introduce shooters to the core aspects of archery.

FAQ
Is archery safe?
Archery is a secure sport when performed correctly. Our coaches are fully qualified with years of experience, providing expert coaching for all levels and disciplines. Every archer carries a personal and collective responsibility for safety. Participants must adhere to club rules and follow the directions of the club staff. Those who behave in an unsafe manner may be asked to leave or face a ban. It is for this reason we require archers to be at least 12.
Are you insured?
The club instructors are insured against injury and legal action. Members are not.
We encourage members to join AGB which includes insurance, or otherwise have personal injury insurance should the worst happen.
For more information please follow this link: https://archerygb.org/get-involved/become-a-member
Can anyone take part?
Anyone can join our club provided they are 12 years old or over (with appropriate guardian)
While we are not yet able to offer tailored sessions for those with learning disabilities or severe mental health issues, the club aspires to have coaches trained to deliver more accessible sessions in the future.
Outdoor conditions may limit accessibility for users of walking aids and wheelchairs.
Archery is not suitable for people with injuries to the neck, back, or shoulders.
We unfortunately do not carry assistive equipment for those with upper limb restrictions. For further information please explore this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Para-archery_classification
When do you shoot archery?
See our schedule for current dates and times.
Are there special clothing requirements for archery?
Dress comfortably for the weather and please consider the following advice:
- Suitable footwear – we shoot outdoors on grass. Even in sunny weather, rainfall during the night can result in soggy socks the next day.
- Closed toe shoes only. Archers will not be permitted to shoot in sandals or flip flops. Arrows are pointy.
- Loose fitting sleeves and heavily padded jackets are discouraged. They may be damaged by the activity and worse – they may impair your accuracy.
- Lightweight long sleeve tops are ideal.
- Females: Sports bras or similar are recommended but not essential.
- Be aware you may need to remove certain facial and body piercings to maximise your enjoyment of the sport.
Can I leave my child with you and collect at the end?
No, responsible supervision is required for juniors.
Under 18s must have adult supervision at all times.
We allow the general standard of one supervising adult per four under 18s.
How do I pay?
Bank transfer only.
We not longer take cash at the club for transparency and accounting.
Please see the membership section for details.
We suggest a standing order for those who intend to be regular.
I've seen my picture on this site and I don't like it.
